early valentine's day!

First, I just wanted to give a shout out to my homegirl, Jen (in the middle with the white shirt on) because she's moving to Ken-Tucky, to join her boyfriend and I'm going to miss her dearly!! Jen, good luck, girl!!
Well, I got a exciting little early V-Day surprise the other day! Listen to this sweetness...so, I was talking to Yann on Skype and someone called my phone to be let in the gate at the front of our neighborhood for a delivery.  I figured it was something being delivered for my dad, so you can imagine my surprise when i opened the door to this florist delivering this giant, beautiful vase of roses.  So, sure enough they were from Yann and I brought them back into the room so he could see them on Skype! That was organized quite well on his part I must say! He is on the other side of the world and he sends me flowers and gets to see me receive them!  He sent them "just because." Very smooth, huh ladies?  So, here are the pictures below of the 16 georgeous long stem red roses.   What a sweet boy!

So, what else... I have been tutoring at the learning center a lot lately and I really enjoy it.  I have been working mostly with high school students on math and reading.  The reading and English grammar I like, but the real kicker is the math.  Can I tell you how embarrassing it is when you realize that somewhere along the line, you've completely lost all high school math knowledge?!   But it's been helpful to look at the material with these kids, because somewhere in the back of your head; you remember.  It's covered with dust, but it's there!  They offered me a full time position, but I had to say no, because I am leaving for France in 24 days.  So, I've just been gearing up for the ol' job search once I arrive in France.  Yann's schedule is pretty unique with his job.  He is gone for usually 4 days at a time and then completely off for 8 days.  During the first week I'm in France he'll be leaving to go to work, so that's good in a way!  I'll be on my own in Marseille and i can practice all my French skillz!!! I hope that I don't embarrass myself too badly! It's good for me though, because when he's at work, I'll have some good alone time to check out the city and go to some different English schools for finding a job.  There is this one school that is my dream school to work at in Marseille.  Yann has already sent them my resume however in France, it's important for the potential employer to meet you face-to-face.  Here is a link to this school:

Once you check it out, click on where it says "Our Offices" and there are some really cute pics of the classrooms and the kids.  I am very interested in this place because they focus mostly on arts and language.  It's a bilingual school for small children, so the curriculum is half in English and half in French.  Their thought is that because children are so good at learning languages when they are toddlers, that the earlier their education is bilingual, the easier it will be for them to learn it naturally.  And I can tell you as a beginner French student, it is quite painful to learn this stuff once you're over 26 years old.  I am dutifully making my flash cards with nouns, verb conjugations, and numbers and studying at least an hour a day. Yeah for me!!

So, anyways, just a little update! Hope you are good and that you have a great February!
XOXO
